When driving, despite having properly adjusted mirrors, blind spots continue to pose a significant risk. Blind spots are areas around a vehicle that cannot be seen by the driver through mirrors, which can lead to accidents if other vehicles or objects enter these zones without the driver knowing.

Properly adjusting mirrors helps to minimize the size of blind spots, but it does not entirely eliminate them. The configuration of the vehicle and the driver's seating position can create areas that are not visible, especially immediately adjacent to the vehicle and in the rear corners. Consequently, effective safe driving requires additional caution, such as checking over the shoulder and using turn signals when changing lanes or merging, to ensure that these unseen areas are clear of obstacles.
