CEVO 5 – Ambulance Practice Test

The goal when managing speed while approaching corners in an ambulance is to ensure gradual and smooth adjustments. This approach is crucial for several reasons. First, smooth handling helps maintain control of the vehicle, which is essential when navigating potentially hazardous conditions or tight corners. Sudden changes in speed, such as rapid acceleration or harsh braking, can lead to loss of traction or a greater risk of skidding, especially in emergency situations where patients may be onboard.

Additionally, maintaining a controlled speed allows for better handling and response from the driver, making it easier to steer the ambulance safely through a turn without risking the stability of the vehicle. It also helps to keep the patient secure and comfortable, minimizing any potential injury from sudden movements. In summary, gradual and smooth adjustments in speed not only enhance safety for the crew and patients but also improve overall response times and operational efficiency while navigating corners.
